T-FINNY 

How it Started

FINNY Records is an independent record label founded by artist, singer/songwriter, and producer T-FINNY, just months after stepping away from a career in professional hockey. 

What began with an acoustic guitar and a need to express a side of himself that athletics never could quickly became something much bigger. In January 2023, T-FINNY introduced his indie artist project with “Rinse Cycle Repeat,” a song inspired by the strange transition from chasing a lifelong dream in hockey to suddenly finding himself inside the routine of a 9 -5 life.

From there, T-FINNY began carving out a sound that was difficult to place neatly inside one genre. Through genre blurring production, intimate songwriting, and energetic live performances, he started gaining attention throughout the independent music space. His collaboration with illgorythmz and Seltzr, “Eyes Were Blue,” became an early breakthrough, earning recognition from Spotify editorial playlists and independent music publications online.

Constant evolution has remained at the center of the project. Often writing, producing, composing, and recording from his apartment studio, T-FINNY pulls from multiple eras and corners of pop, R&B, electronic, and alternative music. His influences stretch from artists like Mac Miller, Mike Posner, and Dominic Fike to alternative staples such as Empire of the Sun, MGMT, Portugal. The Man, Phoenix, and Glass Animals, alongside modern indie acts including Still Woozy, Dayglow, Nightly, Sports, and Gus Dapperton.

The result is a sound that feels familiar without belonging entirely to any one scene - what T-FINNY describes simply as “chill music with multiple dimensions of every genre we feel.”

Over the years, T-FINNY has allowed the project to evolve alongside him, taking time to rediscover both himself and the kind of artist he wants to become. Across two EPs and an expanding catalog, his music has documented stories of love, identity, ambition, heartbreak, and adversity, with fan favorites including “Sugar Pie,” “Keep Up,” and “New York City Night.”

At its heart, the T-FINNY story is about what happens when one dream ends and an entirely new life begins. From collegiate and professional hockey to writing and producing records, his music has become a way of navigating the uncertainty that comes with starting over: new relationships, identity, ambition, growth, and everything in between.

As both T-FINNY and FINNY Records continue to evolve, the project serves as an ongoing soundtrack to that journey: trying to make sense of a new life in real time, one song at a time.
