How it Started
FINNY Records is an independent record label started by artist, writer, and producer Tal Finberg, a few months after retiring from professional ice hockey.
Often referred to as "Finny" by his peers, the ambitious musician discovered his talent for songwriting at the young age of 13. Finally, in January of 2023, Finny launched his first indie project under the artist name of T-FINNY.
Through his multi-genre productions and acoustic live performances, it did not take long for T-FINNY to grab some attention in the independent music space for his unique productions and poetic lyrical compositions. Specifically, after his second single "Sugar Pie" hit all streaming platforms in early March of 2023, the former athlete started to attract collaborators and be taken more seriously.
A consistent evolution of sound T-FINNY blends multiple eras, genres, and sub-genres of pop, rnb, and electronic music, which he often creates, records, and composes on his own, in his apartment studio.
A new sound that finds inspiration from popular artists like Mac Miller, Mike Posner, and Dominic Fike to alternative greats like Empire of the Sun, MGMT, The 1975, and Glass Animals, to other alternative indie acts like Still Woozy, Ralph Castelli, and Phoenix, T-FINNY describes his music as chill music with multiple dimensions of every genre we feel.
Over the course of the last few years, the young artist has taken some time to rediscover himself, his sound, and shift from solely folk-acoustic music, to more of a complete sound. Although he has rebranded completely, to attracting electro-pop fans around the world, , he often still prefers to perform his shows as acoustic live-sets to show his fans how most of his songs start with just him and his beloved guitar, as well as connect with them on a more authentic level.
The independent musician often talks about this approach being a new way of fans across the world having the opportunity to hear and understand the music from a more personal perspective. With an extensive catalog of music, telling personal stories of life, love, and adversity, T-FINNY invites listeners on his crazy journey of being a former collegiate and professional athlete to eventually leaving his childhood dream, in order to pursue his lifelong passion and a career in music.
